The truth is that in this temple the scenes of the first Tomb Raider movie were not filmed. They really filmed in Ta Prohm, another spectacular temple of the archaeological complex of Angkor. However, if you want to live an experience as adventurous as possible, your temple is Beng Maelea, the temple we liked most about the trip to Cambodia.

Beng Maelea It is a Khmer civilization temple located just over an hour's drive from Angkor Wat. It means "lotus pond" and is the most "Indiana Jones" and "Tomb Raider" experience you can have in this area. But only if you arrive very soon, before seven in the morning.

We were lucky and the first ones arrived at about 8:00. There was no one else. We approached the entrance of the ruined stone mass and saw that on the right hand side there was a wooden walkway that led inland, saving the moat.

However, a somewhat older gentleman with a uniform from the organization that deals with the conservation of the place, indicated with gestures that we follow him in another way. At first we doubt. "Where will this man want to take us?" Especially since, to begin with, he told us not to climb the wooden ladder that led to the walkway. That is for tourists. No, we had to jump the narrow pit and reach the ledge that surrounds the enclosure wall. That seemed very "Lara Croft" to me, because going on the catwalk would have been easy, but going the most unexpected route was much more adventurous.

The man barely spoke, but we still followed him. We entered through an opening in the wall and sneaked into a gallery where the roof had completely collapsed. We move very carefully over the rubble covered with a very thin layer of bright green moss.
