Five places to eat good, beautiful and cheap in Antwerp

Gloria has been living in Antwerp More than a year and he wanted to share with us some of the best kept secrets of this fantastic city. More specifically, in this article we discover where to eat good, beautiful and cheap in Antwerp. Come on?

Antwerp, capital of the Flanders region, in Belgium, can boast of having the most beautiful restaurant in the world: Jane. This place was awarded as such by the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards in 2015 and also has two Michelin stars.

For other tighter pockets, we have developed a selection of five Antwerp restaurants, located in the center, where you can taste good food, especially native, at a good price and equally charming.

Located in a street next to the Grote Markt -the main square-, but away from the tourist streets, it is a restaurant where you can enjoy homemade dishes at a reasonable price. They have typical flamenco dishes like endivia rolled with ham and baked mashed potatoes (witloof uit de oven); beef stew cooked with local Koninck beer (stoofvlees gekookt in Bolleke Koninck); cow tongue with madeira sauce (rundstong met madeiresaus) among others. But they also have dishes of the day accompanied, of course, by the famous hand-cut fries. Their specialty is mussels (zeeuwse mosselen) and they are cooked with different ingredients: white wine, steamed or with garlic cream. They present a simple kitchen with copious dishes and the staff is friendly. The decoration is simple and has an outdoor terrace to enjoy both summer and winter. The best thing is that it is open late and you don't have to worry about European schedules.

Of Bomma

The restaurant De Bomma invites you to remember with nostalgia the homemade dishes that the Belgian grandmothers cooked with care and care. Proof of this are the photographs of Belgian grandmothers that are on the walls within a modern and tasteful decoration. Although it is in the busy Suikerrui street, between the town hall and the river, it is not another tourist restaurant, but the dishes, typically flamenco, have a very high quality. Very frequented by the Amberinos themselves, it is a very cozy place where you can try dishes such as stews (stoofvlees) (attention, with a single dish they eat two people), which can be accompanied with steamed potatoes, fried, breaded or choose another accompaniment as salads and a variety of dishes such as mussels (mosselen), meat, fish and salads. It is almost essential to book a day in advance because it is always complete.
