I am a city woman. And that was demonstrated when the sound of the frogs in the middle of the Tuscan peace at night and the singing of the birds in the morning did not let me sleep. I don't know if it was because I was "hyper", because of the coke I drank at the airport or because I missed my bed, but the fact was that at 6.30 am I was already awake and at 7 I decided to go to shower, waking up poor Clara (Azuki had been awake for a while too).

We put on our geeky t-shirts, drawn by Azuki for the occasion with the slogan "I love boys who sparkle" (I like boys that shine) and we went down to breakfast. At 8.30 am, breakfast began to be served on the porch. I had already gone to rural houses, but the truth is that breakfast surprised us (bread, sausage, pastry croissants, juice, etc). Especially the freshly made cake (until it was warm) of apple and peach. Yummy!

Volcano landscape.

With a coffee in the body we went to look for our car, we set the coordinates in the Tomtom and headed to our first destination: Volterra. From the B&B to Volterra there are 58 kilometers, which being not highways makes it take an hour to make the journey. As we approached Volterra the landscape was embellished. The meadows, wheat fields, cypresses and manor houses are a spectacle.

Upon arriving in Volterra, we parked the car outside the wall and walked in through the door of San Francesco, which was curiously where Alice entered, in the direction of Piazza dei Priori, which is spectacular. Upon arriving there, the first thing that surprised us was to see that there was no source! What did exist was the accommodation reservation center that was decorated with the covers of books and movies. We went in there and they gave us a map of the city that indicated where each thing / part was happening in the book.

Special Volterra map with the locations of «New Moon».

It must be said that Mrs. Meyer saw the photo of the square on the Internet, but almost everything was invented, so the exact locations are not. The first thing was to go to the "dark alley", which was not exactly to the left of the clock tower, but a little further. In the "dark alley" we did a bit of geeks and took some pictures there until we found the sewer through which they descend to the basement. Later we continue with the tour of the book.

Piazza dei Priori ... where is the fountain?

The truth is that Volterra is a town with a lot of charm and antiquity, since it dates from the Etruscans. The city, like almost all of Tuscany, is on top of a hill and surrounded by a wall. That means that one has to go up and down many slopes. Although Volterra was already known before, now it is enjoying a lot of popularity thanks to the Twilight saga, and of course, they take advantage of it. There are many stores that sell souvenirs with book motives, although I have to admit that I expected much more.

"Dark alley" sewer that sadly was all painted.

In the square we met a family-fan who were also visiting the city and who came from Georgia, US. LOL! And he goes and they ask us: Team Edward or Team Jacob? Team Edward, obviously.
